Why Do We Offer Free Unlimited Diving During the PADI Divemaster Course?

Published On: February 25th, 2025

As a PADI Divemaster, looking and acting professionally underwater is key. You are a role model for divers to follow so having good diving techniques and behaviours is crucial as your actions now affect others. Also other divers will rely on your good judgement to solve potential problems both on the surface and underwater, especially as you may end up being seen as the most experienced diver around. Therefore being a PADI Divemaster means you are a dive professional and have mastered the art of scuba diving. But how is this achieved? Simple… just practice. And how do we get this practice? Again simple… just dive as much as possible by making use of unlimited fun dives that you’ll have while taking your PADI Divemaster Course with us.

Also having extensive dive experience as a PADI Divemaster is essential. As stated on the PADI Divemaster Course requirements, prerequisites include that you must have 40 dives logged and that by the end of the course, you must have 60 dives logged.

But what is fun diving and how is it different to diving on the course? A fun dive is a no decompression dive that you can do with a buddy in a dive location. Basically diving for fun with no skill practice or marked criteria. At Dive Pro Career, being a PADI Divemaster candidate, this means on your days or half days off you can join other divers either on the boat or from the shore and explore the dive sites around Moalboal. This means you can log more dives and also get to know Moalboal’s lovely dive sites. Let’s look at the benefits of fun diving as a dive professional:

Good Diving Techniques and Behaviours

As you probably know, most of the advanced divers look effortless underwater. They don’t move or kick too much and are able to almost glide while diving. As the old saying goes, recreational divers are “lazy” people and want to explore the underwater with little effort. This means having horizontal streamlined positioning, having good kicking technique, ability to maintain buoyancy control and having good air consumption. As a PADI Divemaster, this is how you should be viewed underwater. Therefore, by having unlimited fun diving with us, you can dive as much as you want to practice and master these techniques, so that you look and act more professional underwater.

This also comes with behaving professionally and showing correct diving practices. Following standards and learning from other dive professionals can give you a better idea on how to act safely for yourself and other divers. Having experience through fun diving means you’ll have opportunities to observe PADI Instructors and PADI Divemasters, communicate and learn from them. Also getting to know the boat crew and members of staff. Furthermore, speaking with customers, enhancing their experiences and also offering your knowledge and advice to further ingrain your learning.

Problem Solving on Guided Dives

As a PADI Divemaster candidate, you won’t be officially guiding certified divers yet, but in your training, you’ll be practicing guiding over and over again. Also, you are automatically a part of the dive shop team. Guiding divers becomes one of your main responsibilities being a PADI Divemaster which requires you to manage a group of customers during their whole diving experience.

What Does a Day in the Life of a PADI Divemaster Look Like?

For more information about guiding as a qualified PADI Divemaster, you can read our blog article.

Doing more fun dives also means you gain insight on how to run them and different ways to handle common diving related problems both in and out of the water. This could be a diver being unable to equalise, or bolting to the surface, or even somebody who is getting anxious about the dive beforehand. Being there as a PADI Divemaster candidate during fun dives gives you opportunities to help out and have hands-on experience to deal with even the smallest of problems that occur.

At Dive Pro Career, we believe the old saying that practice makes perfect. As you have read there are many benefits of fun diving and this is why we encourage all our candidates to do as much of it as possible. Therefore we offer unlimited diving to all of our PADI Divemaster candidates either during the course or the internship. This allows our students to firstly meet the PADI requirements, and to be able to literally be a master at diving upon completion of the PADI Divemaster Course.
