The biggest highlight here is the Sardine run which can be seen in the same location all year round (unlike South Africa’s seasonal sardine run). Peak tourist times are during the dry season, between December to April. However, water temperatures are warm all year reaching no lower than 27°C / 81°F which attracts a consistent flow of diving customers and students every month. Malapascua Island

A tiny island in the north of Cebu, this small but mighty island is renowned worldwide for the only guaranteed place for you to get up close with the Thresher shark. Between December to April, you can see these beauties every morning chilling in their cleaning station of Monad Shoal. As well as this, the island provides lovely marco life and other potential shark sightings, a few to name being white tips, black tips and even a tiger shark.

Siquijor Island

Bohol Island

El Nido, Palawan

Coron, Palawan

A highly recommended diving spot to note just outside, though accessible from Coron, is the stunning Apo Reef.

Puerto Galera, Mindoro

Lap up in luxury in this diving town within the island of Mindoro. Puerto Galera is famous for being a natural harbour with a wide variety of diving terrain: reef, muck you name it. The Verde Islands are accessible from here and are known to have some of the richest biodiversity of marine life in the whole of the Philippines.

Dauin, Negros
