Before you can start working as a dive professional, first there is an exciting and fun but also challenging step to embark… completing your PADI Divemaster Course. Let’s take a look at the key things about this course.

Prerequisites

Before starting your PADI Divemaster Course, you need to be a certified diver with a “bit” of experience. Here are detailed prerequisites:

Diving Equipment

Scuba diving is an equipment based sport. We can’t go underwater without proper working gear that enables us to breathe, swim and see. As a Divemaster it’s highly recommended to own your full set of diving equipment, which consists of:

  • Fins, mask and snorkel

  • Buoyancy control device (BCD)

  • Primary regulator and alternate air source

  • Breathing gas monitoring device (SPG – Submersible Pressure Gauge)

  • Quick-release weight system and weights

  • Adequate exposure protection appropriate for local dive conditions (wetsuit)

  • At least one audible emergency surface signaling device (whistle, air horn, etc.)

  • Dive computer (depth monitoring device)

  • Compass, time-monitoring device, Visible surface-signaling device (SMB)

Buying the full set of equipment before the course is a bit of an investment. If you are still not 100% sure that this path is for you, it’ll be better for you to rent the gear you need for the duration of the course and gradually invest in your own set. At Dive Pro Career, we offer affordable equipment rental and have big discounts for our Divemaster candidates.
